Wednesday Update 12/20/23

This is Kelly this week writing the update, but there isn't much. Andrew was discharged from the hospital on 12/5 and has been recovering really well at home. His oncologist wanted to skip his last chemotherapy cycle since he was still recovering from his GI bug. His labs had not yet normalized and he was still not feeling great, so we held that cycle. It was really nice to have a cycle off. He felt good and had a lot more energy than he normally does. We finished our Christmas shopping, got some stuff down around the house, and prepped for Christmas. Unfortunately, today we are back at infusion. His labs all look like they have finally rebounded so we are pressing forward. His oncologist did go to Minnesota for some training on the histotripsy procedure and still feels like it could be a really good option for him. University of Michigan is expected to get a machine sometime in January, so we are hoping after that we can move forward a bit with that and stop chemo at least temporarily. We continue to wait on the transplant, at this point just waiting for a deceased donor as all the living donors were eliminated.

It would be a lie to say we aren't struggling with the constant chemo cycles at this point. It really weighs on everybody, but Andrew is so strong. He continues to push through for his girls and will do anything to fight this. I'm constantly amazed by his strength through all of this. He continues to be the girls' silly dad and best snuggle buddy even when I know he feels awful. We hope everyone has a great holiday season with their families and you all stay healthy!

Merry Christmas!

Kelly
